A crash investigation has closed a major northwest suburban intersection near Interstate 90 during the afternoon rush hour.
Elgin police urged drivers to avoid the area of North State Street (Route 31) and Big Timber as the roadways were shut down “due to a vehicle crash investigation.”
“We ask drivers to avoid the area and to use alternate routes,” the department wrote in an alert on social media.
Details on what happened weren’t immediately released.
The crash took place near the entrance and exit ramps to Interstate 90 for the northwest suburb and just outside of Judson University.
