The Beatles are going home in a very big way.
A massive new 100,000-square-foot immersive Beatles experience is coming to Liverpool in 2028, bringing fans inside recreations of some of the most famous places and moments in the band’s history.
The Beatles announced the project on Instagram on Oct. 20 with a fitting message: “We’re on our way home.”
View this post on InstagramThe new attraction will become the home of The Beatles Story, which will relocate from Liverpool’s Albert Dock to the former St Johns Market site in St Johns Shopping Centre, directly across from Liverpool Lime Street station.
At 100,000 square feet, the new location will more than quadruple the attraction’s current footprint. And that’s only part of the project.
Liverpool’s St Johns Beacon will house a separate Yellow Submarine-themed experience, giving visitors a panoramic 360-degree view of the city and the landmarks where The Beatles’ story began. Fans will be able to visit the Beacon attraction separately or bundle it with admission to The Beatles Story.
The Beatles Story itself is being designed as a multi-hour experience using immersive technology, original artifacts and reconstructed sets to trace the band’s journey from post-war Liverpool and its early years in Hamburg through Beatlemania and international superstardom.
Fans will be able to step inside recreations of The Cavern, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and Savile Row, among other locations tied to Beatles history.
There’s also an intriguing connection to the four upcoming Beatles movies from director Sam Mendes.
Some of the immersive locations will use actual sets and props from Mendes’ The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in April 2028. The four interconnected movies will tell the band’s story from the perspectives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Apple Corps, the company The Beatles founded in 1968, will take over operation of the existing Beatles Story in 2027 before moving it to the new location the following year. It will be the first official Beatles fan experience in Liverpool operated by Apple Corps.

McCartney said he finds the continued fascination with the band’s story “incredible and humbling.”
“I love Liverpool. It’s part of who I am, it’s part of who The Beatles are,” McCartney said. “If you’d told us this was going to happen when we were hanging out and getting started we’d never have believed it.”
He added that the plans take him “right back to that journey, from Liverpool to the world and back home again.”
Starr also looked back on the band’s improbable journey from Liverpool.
“When we grew up in the dingle, we never thought we’d be on a plane, much less all the places this long, long road took us,” Starr said, adding, “Liverpool was, and still is, music city.”
The drummer was also enthusiastic about another component of the project: Every ticket sold to The Beatles Story will contribute to the new Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, which will provide financial support and opportunities to emerging Liverpool artists and local cultural projects.
“The beat goes on,” Starr said.
The Liverpool attraction will be only the second permanent Beatles experience operated by Apple Corps. Another is scheduled to open at 3 Savile Row in London at the end of 2027.
Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene compared the ambition for the Liverpool destination to two of the most famous music attractions in the United States.
“Just like Graceland or Dollywood, it’s fitting that The Beatles will have a world class destination for fans to visit in the centre of the city where the story started,” Greene said.
The new Beatles Story is scheduled to open in 2028, shortly after Mendes’ four Beatles movies hit theaters that April.
