Damascus, Dec. 4 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Education has launched its first-ever Local Education Group (LEG), an initiative designed to coordinate education planning with international organizations and align their programs with national priorities.
Education Mohammed Abdulrahman Turko said the ministry considers equitable and inclusive education for every Syrian child a non-negotiable national priority. He noted that the ministry is updating its organizational structure to meet current needs, including the creation of a new Directorate for Activities and Protection to strengthen child-protection programs and support educational and cultural initiatives in schools.
Turko outlined several challenges facing the education sector, such as rehabilitating damaged schools, addressing the needs of children outside the formal education system, improving infrastructure, and securing the resources required to keep schools operating.
Participants agreed to boost cooperation and improve coordination in order to raise the quality of education and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students.
