Ivan Puskovitch finished 3rd in the men’s 1500, but with World Record holder Bobby Finke getting upset by Ilia Sibirtsev for the win, Paskovitch did not get a ton of attention.
The 24-year-old is most well known for his open water prowess, and he won the USA Swimming Fran Crippen Open Water Athlete of the Year Golden Goggle for his performance at the 2025 World Championships.
He also races the pool swims, and tonight, he stayed on the heels of Finke and Sibirtsev through the first 1000 meters of the race. He ended up falling just off their pace, but he finished in 15:10.91, more than 11 seconds faster than the 15:23.03 he swam to finish 14th at the 2024 Olympic Trials. He finished just over a second-and-a-half behind Finke, who was 15:09.21 for the silver.
On the women’s side, Ohio State freshman Adair Shaw touched in 16:52.57 for 5th. This was a six second drop from her previous best 16:58.48 from July of 2025. Shaw set four new personal best times at the 2025 Ohio State Invitational a few weeks ago, including in the 1650 freestyle, where she swam 16:14.49.
Northwestern commit for 2027 Annabeth Town, 16, finished 6th, in 16:59.13 to drop 10 seconds from the 17:09.90 best time she set in July of 2025.
