A man fatally shot his neighbor after the neighbor broke into his house Wednesday morning in the Hill-N-Park neighborhood south of Greeley.
At 1:21 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 4200 block of Grand Teton Road in the Hill-N-Park neighborhood, according to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The man who called said he had been in a feud with his neighbor, who kicked in the man’s door and came into his home with “an object” in his hand, the release states.
“A struggle ensued,” and the man shot and killed his neighbor, according to the release. The man was taken to a hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, according to the release. The release did not specify the nature of the injuries or how he suffered them.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the man shot pending notification of next of kin.
The sheriff’s office said no further information will be released today, citing the active investigation. There is no danger to the community, the release states.
