Georgia cornerback, former starter, reportedly plans to enter transfer portal

Georgia cornerback Daniel Harris told On3 on Sunday afternoon that he’s planning on entering the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Miami native has been a key member of the Georgia secondary during his time in Athens, starting 12 games among the 20-plus contests he appeared in. The junior will have 1 more season of eligibility once he decides which program he’s going to play for in 2026.

Harris had 30 tackles and 3 pass deflections during his 3-year run at Georgia, which apparently is coming to an abrupt end as the Bulldogs get ready to face Alabama in the SEC Championship Game next Saturday in Atlanta.

A former 4-star recruit, Harris began this season as 1 of Georgia’s starting cornerbacks. He was playing opposite star cornerback Daylen Everette, but things quickly went sideways in 2025 for Harris. He lost his starting job to Demello Jones and Ellis Robinson this fall, and now Harris will reportedly be seeking a college football locale that suits him better next year.

Harris had registered just 7 tackles this season after playing a bigger role on the Georgia defense last year, when he made 4 starts and had 22 tackles.

It is still unclear if Harris will stay at Georgia to play in that SEC title game or in the College Football Playoff. Players can’t officially enter the transfer portal until January, but Harris apparently didn’t want to wait that long to make his intentions known for 2026.
