Last year Donald Glover, who records and performs under the name of Childish Gambino, postponed his tour dates in North America, the U.K. and Europe due to health issues he said he needed “to confront seriously.”
The Solo: A Star Wars Story actor made his return to the stage Saturday night, Nov. 22 at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. During his set, Glover addressed his health battles in a performance that was also livestreamed for the fans who couldn’t make it to the festival.

“I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway,” he revealed, per NME. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’”
“And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am copying Jamie Foxx’ [who revealed he suffered a stroke in 2023]. That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”
That was just one of the health challenges Glover faced in recent months. “I broke my foot, they found a hole in my heart,” he also revealed. “So I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery.”
After making that reveal, Glover went on to explain how his health battles have given him a new perspective on life.
“They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better,” he said.
Glover’s set was warmly received from fans at the gig and those who watched at home.
