Genevieve Chenneour makes a bold move after making headlines once again following her second assault.
The 27-year-old, best known for her role as Clara Livingston in the hit Netflix period drama Bridgerton, shared that she was harassed by a “full-grown adult” man while on her way to an audition.
Initially shared on her Instagram story, the incident, which happened in central London, brought her immense shock, but she tried to regain her composure after a “nerve-wracking” incident.
“Guys, literally five minutes before my audition, I was walking around the corner at Oxford Circus and this guy just looks at me, and targets me, and [expletive] hits me,” she recalled while crying, adding, “I’m like, against the wall, and I was right about to arrive for my audition. So I had to come in, and I’m trying to gather myself, but I’m so shaken.”
Chenneour managed to remember the look of the alleged attacker and described it in her post, writing, “He was about 50 years old, 6’3”, Black, wearing a dark coloured hat and black clothes.”

Following the mixed reaction from the public, the English actress and former artistic swimmer is using her platform to raise awareness and make it clear that she will not “stay silent” on this issue.
On Instagram, she posted a lengthy caption urging a focus on safety, “meaningful change” and support rather than finger-pointing and victim-blaming.
“I’m sharing this because staying silent helps no one… Women are being attacked far too often in London, and I won’t pretend what happened to me is an isolated incident,” she wrote.
View this post on Instagram“I’m safe, I’m okay, but I’m also shaken and I’m exhausted by how normal this has become. By constantly being on edge. By spending extortionate amounts on Ubers just to feel safe. Safe from men. No one should feel unsafe simply walking down their own street. I want to use my platform to amplify real conversations about women’s safety and meaningful change. If you’re part of a women’s charity, community organisation or work in public safety or policy, I’d genuinely like to connect. I’m committed to using this moment to help move us forward,” she added.
Lastly, she wrote “Enough is enough” which expressed her frustration and determination to take a stand against harassment and injustice.
The actress’ post received not just positive feedback from the public but also sympathy and support from her followers.
“I am so sorry. This is the reality for women and it has to end. Sending you love,” one wrote.
“I’m so sorry this happened to you - and you do have to speak out about it. So much violence against women, especially,” a commenter said.
“I’m very sorry for what happened to you. I hope that something can change and that no one will ever be hurt again. I hope you’re holding up somehow and managing to get through this,” a fan echoed.
The same goes for another who also tagged government officials for possible actions, noting, “We are so sorry for this experience happening. I do believe @mayorofldn you should do something about.”
“Genuinely sorry you had to experience this. Unfortunately, it seems to be a way too common occurrence for women and girls smh,” a follower said.
A commenter who also experienced the same situation shared, “So sorry this happened to you. Not good enough. I was mugged there last year. Didn’t even bother reporting it to the police. Have since left the UK. Women, particularly, have been completely betrayed. I hope things change someday.”
Sadly, this was the second time she experienced an attack in London.
The first occurred in February, when a thief snuck up behind her in an attempt to steal her phone, but she managed to fight him off and eventually retrieved her phone. However, the incident left her feeling “traumatised.”
