CHILI, N.Y. — Roberts Wesleyan University announced a leadership change as President Rupert Hayles plans to step down on Jan. 2.
Hayles, who has been with the university for just over two years, oversaw its transition from a college to a university. Earlier this year, the school laid off 20% of its staff and cut some programs.
“I believe my work here will help set the course for the future of Roberts Wesleyan University,” said Hayles in a press release. “I value this opportunity and pray that my work has contributed to the future direction of Roberts Wesleyan University.”
Dr. Terry Taber, the current chair of the Board of Trustees, will serve as interim president, effective Jan. 3.
