Lilly Evan has verbally committed to swim and study at the College of the Holy Cross as a member of the class of 2030. She confirmed the decision in an email to SwimSwam, writing:

100 Backstroke: 57.44 100 Butterfly: 58.87 200 Backstroke: 2:07.24Evan hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she attends Mount Lebanon High School and trains year-round with Mount Lebanon Aquatics Club. She’s a backstroke and butterfly specialist who competes in the 100 and 200 back along with the 100 fly, with the 100 back representing her best event.
The 2024-25 season saw Evan post a big breakthrough in the 200 back, dropping her personal best by over three seconds over the course of the season, from 2:10.35 to 2:07.24. She also sliced about a half second off her bests in the 100 back and 100 fly, improving from 57.91 to 57.44 in the former and 59.37 to 58.87 in the latter.
A two-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 3A State Championship individual qualifier, Evan finished 15th in the 100 back (57.73) this past March to equal her finish from 2024, when she logged a slightly slower 57.91.
Unlike many swimmers who peak at a single target meet, Evan’s best times this season came at various in-season competitions. She clocked her 57.44 100 back to touch second at the Jim Stacy Winter Championships in December, notched her 2:07.24 200 back at the High School Splash in March, and produced her 58.87 100 fly at a dual meet versus Peters in February.
The Holy Cross women, led by coach Kristy Jones, finished tenth out of ten teams at the 2025 Patriot League Championships. At that meet, which featured ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals, Evan’s best in the 100 back would have tied for 19th after prelims and earned her a spot in the ‘C’ final, meaning she enters with immediate scoring potential. Times of 56.90 and 2:05.09 were required to make the top 24 and score in the 100 fly and 200 back, respectively.
On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Evan would have ranked third in the 100 back, fifth in the 100 fly, and seventh in the 200 back. Freshmen Ellie Reinhart (57.23) and Laura Arciniegas (57.39) led the way in the 100 back, just ahead of Evan’s best time, giving her two strong training partners for her two years of overlap with that class. In the 200 back, Arciniegas (2:03.84) and Reinhart (2:03.92) are the top returners from 2024-25, while Evan will have one season to train alongside Courtney Boghosian (2:05.33).
In the 100 fly, Evan will have the opportunity to train alongside sophomore Devin Brindle (55.89), sophomore Megan Nelson (56.83), and freshman Hannah Neilly (58.26), giving her strong training partners as she develops in that event.
Sienna Plutzer, Whitney Handwork, Claire Wood, Shea McGlynn, and Mariana Builes are set to join Evan in Holy Cross’ recruiting class of 2030.
