The Chicago Bulls are only days away from inducting their 2025 Ring of Honor Class.
On November 22, when the team welcomes the Washington Wizards to the United Center, the organization will recognize six franchise icons. Bill Cartwright, John Paxson, Neil Funk, Johnny Bach, and Norm Van Lier make up the 2025 class and will each be acknowledged during a halftime ceremony. But that’s not all!
The Bulls announced several more ways they plan to celebrate their newest Ring of Honor classmates. They first published a series of essays on their indcutees this week that were written by fellow NBA legends. Oscar Robertson penned the excerpt for the late Van Lier, while former Bulls head coach Doug Collins wrote about Bach. Mike Breen shared his thoughts on Funk, Michael Wilbon on Bill Cartwright, Harvey Grant on his brother Horace, and Digger Phelps on Paxson. You can read those essays on the Ring of Honor website.
The franchise will also unveil a special artium experience that will feature never-before-seen memorabilia from each classmate’s career. Coolest of all, however, fans will actually have a chance to shake the hands of several new members!
Ahead of tip-off on Nov. 22, Bill Cartwright, Neil Funk, Horace Grant, and John Paxson will each be in the atrium for a meet-and-greet with ticket holders. The event will last about 45 minutes and start at 5 p.m. CT. I have to admit, that’s a pretty great touch!
This year marks the second-ever Ring of Honor class for the organization. When the organization announced the project in 2023-24, they noted that new members would be inducted every two years. Members of the inaugural class included Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson, Bob Love, and many more.
