Beloved '70s rock band Three Dog Night has postponed two upcoming Illinois performances, announcing that both shows — originally scheduled for Friday, November 14, in St. Charles and Saturday, November 15, in Effingham — will now take place in early 2026.
In a post shared to Facebook, the band wrote, “Due to unanticipated logistical issues, Three Dog Night is postponing two shows this weekend in St. Charles, IL, and Effingham, IL.”
Frontman Danny Hutton added in the statement, “I know this is very disappointing for the fans. We really enjoy performing in both of these great venues and look forward to seeing you early next year.”

View this post on InstagramA similar announcement on Instagram echoed the same reasoning, describing “ongoing issues” with air travel that are affecting the band members' ability to get to the Midwest in time.
Hutton added on Instagram, “I know this is disappointing for the fans, but the guys come from all over the country — Florida, the East Coast, Oregon, California — and during this time when so many flights are still disrupted, we can’t risk a missed connection that would jeopardize the show. We really enjoy performing in both of these great venues and look forward to seeing you early in 2026."

Fans Sound Off: ‘Total BS!’
Fans quickly flooded the announcement with a mix of disappointment and frustration.
“So many people will be sad, hope to see you soon ?,” one fan wrote.
Another quipped, “Please let the show go on," and someone else joked, “Sometimes mamma tells you not to come!”, both of which are nods to two of Three Dog Night's biggest hits, "Mama Told Me Not to Come" (1970) and "The Show Must Go On" (1974).
One fan added, “I am so sad ? I was so looking forward to this.”
But others were far less patient, with one person writing, “Total BS! There are no travel issues,” while another called it a “Lame excuse.” Several commenters posted messages along the lines of "BS."

Another commenter questioned why the band couldn’t find another way to reach Illinois:“Tour bus?? Drive?? Get out in the country!”
Guitarist/vocalist Paul Kingery replied directly to that comment, explaining the band’s geographical spread by writing, “We can’t get to the bus in Indiana, from LA, Sacramento, Orlando, Georgia, Ojai, Portland & Arizona. Just saying. I’ve already received my flight cancellation notice, and it’s only Tuesday!”
The band’s current lineup includes Hutton, David Morgan, Paul Kingery, Pat Bautz, Timothy Hutton, and Howard Laravea. Original vocalist Cory Wells and original keyboard player Jimmy Greenspoon both passed away in 2015; original drummer Floyd Sneed died in 2023.
