— Joey Van Zummeren (@JoeyVZ_) November 12, 2025“I talked about this at SEC Media Days, but we’ve got to get out of this ‘Oh man, it’s playoff or bust’ mentality,” Drinkwitz said during a recent appearance on his Tiger Talk radio show. “Yes, we’re shooting for the moon, we’re going to put our whole selves into that, but only 12 teams make the playoffs… If the season only counts for 12 football teams, and we have 127 Division 1 playing football teams, that math is not going to math very well.”
Drinkwitz and the Tigers are currently sitting at 6-3 on the year, but they still have a lot to play for, including their Senior Day this weekend in the final home game of the year against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The College Football Playoff may be out of the picture for the Tigers at this point, but Drinkwitz and the rest of his team can still send off their veteran leaders with a win on Saturday to secure their third consecutive campaign with at least 7 wins.
