Happy Victory Monday, Bears fans! Let’s go play in the snow (after reading BN Bears Bullets, of course!)
It wasn’t pretty, but the Chicago Bears did what they needed to do on Sunday against the New York Giants. They keep winning games they feel destined to lose. It is a 180-degree turnaround from what I am used to as a fan. I’ve never been more thankful that style points don’t matter in the NFL. This team still has work to do in all phases. But so long as it keeps on pulling out dubs at the end, it will be easier to hammer home those details during practice as opposed to trying to do so while picking up the pieces after a loss.BEARS WIN AGAIN! — Complex Sports (@ComplexSports) November 9, 2025 Thanksigiving is still 17 days away, and the 2025 Chicago Bears have already surpassed the win total of their 2024 counterparts. That is not an inconsequential feat. One of my major concerns coming into this season was if there were too many holdovers from last year’s roster to institute real change. Through nine games, the answer is that the change in coaching staff and philosophies can help turn players who knew nothing but losing at the NFL level into players you can with with (and because of) on game day. PERSPECTIVE: It took Matt Eberflus 27 games to pick up his sixth win. It took Ben Johnson just nine. Long-time Bears reporter Mark Potash nails it (via Twitter/X) with this sentiment: “Tough day for the critics who chided the Blackhawks for tanking for Connor Bedard and the #Bears for not ‘learning how to win’ during the 10-game losing streak in 2022 that ultimately led to Caleb Williams. A universal sports truth: Great players teach you how to win.”CHECK OUT THE BN BEARS PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
Are the 2025 Bears good? My honest answer is that I don’t know. This team will write the story of how good they are this season. Perhaps the most important thing is that this team thinks it is good and is playing well enough to back up that feeling. And for what it’s worth, this group currently holds the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoffs. The season doesn’t end today. But if it did, it would be IN. Getting to this point was a journey. Now, the time has come to build on it and hold on to that playoff spot. Mandatory Credit: Mike Dinovo-Imagn Images It was nice to see wide receiver Rome Odunze get involved early an doften. His 10 targets, 6 receptions, and 86 yards led the day for the Bears. It was almost as if last week’s shutout was a blip on the radar. I hope you weren’t worried about Odunze’s output after the Week 9 clunker. And if you were, I hope you watched the Week 10 return. How many times do I have to write about how you learn more from a guy’s bounce back than when you do from his getting knocked down in the first place? Because the Bears have so many pass-catching options, every week risks someone being the odd-man out. This week it was DJ Moore (0 receptions, 4 targets) and Olamide Zaccheaus (4 targets, 1 catch, 5 yards). Drops were a problem for both players on Sunday. We’re probably discussing QB1’s game differently had it not been for some misplays. With that being said, I’m mot holding it against either player. They’ll make plays when called upon next time. And if they don’t, players such as Odunze, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland, and others are available to pick it up. Kudos to the much-maligned Bears defense for making big plays when they needed them in the guts of the game. We’ll have more on Gervon Dexter Sr.’s game-changing play and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson’s renaissance in standalone posts later today. But for now, I’d like to call out Montez Sweat (2 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 TFL, 2 QB hits), Austin Booker (3 solo tackles, 3 quarterback hits), Andrew Billings (4 solo tackles, 2 TFLs), and Tremaine Edmunds (4 solo tackles, 1 TFL, 2 passes defended, 1 QB hit) for their contributions to the win. Those guys are unsung heroes in my book. Mandatory Credit: Mike Dinovo-Imagn Images On the one hand, I hate that I’m looking ahead at the schedule. But on the other hand, I am mentally circling the Week 17 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers as a possible de facto playoff game. I’m sure the execs at NBC are loving that this game is currently slated to be played on Sunday Night Football. Speaking of broadcasts: FOX broadcaster Joe Davis sounds a lot better on play-by-play when there is no threat of John Smoltz interjecting with the most nonsensical baseball analysis that money can buy. The team of Davis and Greg Olsen is certainly a strong No. 2 broadcast group. With that being said, I did have a bone to pick with Greg Olsen:I disagree with Greg Olsen here. If a player is responsible for how their body falls on a quarterback, then a player should be responsible for their knee hitting a QB's head — incidental or not — after a play is blown dead.
