GATES, N.Y. — The Italian American Community Center hosted a 250th birthday celebration for the United States Marine Corps on Saturday. The event honored the history of the Marines, with a special tribute to one of Rochester’s oldest Marines, Bill Lisi, a World War II veteran.
“I learned more in the Marine Corps than I did in three or four years of college,” Lisi said. “I learned how to work with people, talk to people.”
After his service in the Marines, Lisi worked with children with special needs at several schools in the Rochester area.
