When it comes to holiday movies, It's a Wonderful Life takes the cake for many.
Its legendary star known as James Stewart — or Jimmy Stewart, as the world came to know him by — would star in plenty of other classics following the film's release. In fact, he won his lone Oscar several years earlier.
In between starring in the Academy Award-winning film The Philadelphia Story and leading It's a Wonderful Life, Stewart served in World War II and flew 20 missions over Europe. This pivotal time in his career — including the icon's return home to an opportunity to star in the timeless Christmas movie — is the focus of a new biopic hitting the masses later this year.
Better yet, Variety is now reporting that Jimmy is getting a theatrical release amid a new partnership between Burns & Co. Entertainment and Fathom Entertainment. The movie will open nationwide with a traditional theatrical release beginning on Nov. 6.
The young actor to portray Stewart was previously announced and still may come as a surprise to some moviegoers. KJ Apa (Riverdale) fame portrays the legend and posted an official teaser for Jimmy late last year for fans. See below.
