A woman was struck and killed on northbound Interstate 25 near Mead while checking on another driver early Saturday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened at 5:34 a.m. near mile 243, about two miles south of Mead in Weld County.
The driver of a Honda Accord was heading north in the acceleration lane from Colorado 66 onto I-25 when he swerved to avoid a crashed vehicle, driving over the fog line on the right shoulder and hitting a 26-year-old woman who was checking on another driver.
