2025 KOREAN NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS
Tuesday, November 4th – Sunday, November 9th Gimcheon Indoor Swimming Pool LCM (50m) Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap ResultsDay three of the 2025 Korean National Team Trials unfolded tonight from the Gimcheon Indoor Swimming Pool with the action more subdued compared to earlier sessions.
National record holder Lee Juho was the top men’s 100m backstroke performer, logging a time of 53.67 to clear the field by over a second.
Lee, who owns a personal best of 53.32 from more than three years ago, handily held off Choi Yun-hyeok who touched in 55.20 as the next-closest competitor.
Choi Dong-yeol followed up his 100m breaststroke victory with another win in the 50m sprint of the discipline.
Choi hit a result of 27.11 to top the podium, with Kim Chan-young logging 27.35 followed by Park Geon‘s result of 28.20.
Choi’s lifetime best and Korean standard remains at the 26.75 he posted at last month’s Korean National Sports Festival.
Finally on the men’s side, Yang Jaehoon ripped a big-time personal best en route to taking gold in the 50m fly.
The 27-year-old stopped the clock at 23.53, hacking .37 off his previous career-swiftest outing of 23.90 from 2019. He now becomes Korea’s #2 performer of all time, with only Baek Inchul having been quicker with the current national record of 23.24 from last year.
A highlight on the women’s side came in the form of Kim Seungwon coming within striking distance of the Korean national record in the 100m back.
Just 15 years of age, Kim produced a result of 1:00.33 to beat her competitors by over a second.
Kim Ye-eun was next to the wall in 1:01.50 while Song Myeong-ji rounded out the podium in 1:03.54.
The current national standard rests at the 59.56 Lee Eunji established this past June, so teenager Kim was less than a second off that mark to earn the gold.
