The company appointed a new CEO over the summer. It has 200 locations across North America, including 22 in Colorado. The first Smashburger opened in 2007 at 1130 S. Colorado Blvd. in Glendale.
Pizza chain Mellow Mushroom also closed its Tabor Center space earlier this year. Panera called it quits last fall one block away, although California sandwich chain Mendocino Farms will fill part of that space.
A Smashburger at 200 Quebec St. in Lowry also closed in May after complaining about sewer odors in the building.
