GREECE, N.Y. — Voters in Greece are preparing to elect a new town supervisor as term limits prevent current Supervisor Bill Reilich from seeking a fourth term this year.
Democratic Deputy County Executive Jeff McCann is running for the position. McCann has an extensive background in politics, having worked in the State Assembly and Senate, as well as in the towns of Greece and Irondequoit.
He is competing against Republican Bill Murphy, who has served on the Greece Town Board for eight years.
A judge referred Murphy to federal attorneys for an investigation into possible perjury. The referral is over statements that Town Board Member William Murphy made in a lawsuit filed by a former town employee, according to court paperwork. Murphy has not been charged.
As News10NBC covered back in 2023, former employee Robert Johnson filed a lawsuit claiming he was forced to work unpaid for hundreds of hours at Town Supervisor Bill Reilich’s private business in Sweden.
