Ahead of Game 1 of the World Series, the team shared a heartbreaking statement across its social media platforms.
"It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter. The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date," the statement read.

In the time since, President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman with another concerning update, telling the press, "This is so much bigger than baseball."
Vesia has been away from his team for the entirety of the World Series to date. He is not expected to rejoin the team.
The Dodgers lead the Blue Jays 2-1 in the Fall Classic. Game 4 will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Dodger Stadium.
