Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers picked up a huge win last week as they overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to knock off Arkansas on the road, 33-24. It was a much-needed win for the Tigers, who had lost four consecutive SEC games by only 29 combined points.
Coaches have been losing their job in the conference, as Billy Napier and Brian Kelly both have been let go in the last couple of weeks. Freeze himself has heard his name on the hot seat, and he addressed his job security to reporters as the team enters Week 10.
“I’ve been here just short of three years,” Hugh Freeze said. “Is the program better than when I got here on the roster? Yes. Are we close? Yes. I’ve won everywhere I’ve been, and I believe with all my heart that we’re going to win big here.”

— Peter Rauterkus (@peter_rauterkus) October 27, 2025The Tigers defense has been good enough to win a couple more games, but the offense has once again been an issue. Jackson Arnold was brought in to fix things, but he has had an up-and-down season. He was pulled from the Arkansas game after throwing a pick-6, and his status as the starting quarterback is in question heading into the Week 10 game against Kentucky.
After the game against the Wildcats, there are still big-time games against Vanderbilt and Alabama that presents the team the opportunity to get that big win that it is looking for under Freeze.
In today’s college football, teams are making coaching decisions quicker than they ever have before, and getting that marquee victory could play a huge role if Freeze is the guy in 2026.
