Law & Order: SVU is bringing back a familiar face – and no, it’s not Christopher Meloni we’re talking about, although he is returning to his role as Elliot Stabler on the show’s 600th episode, which airs Nov. 12.
Rather, this returning former series regular is on the other side of the law. Stephanie March, who played prosecutor Alexandra Cabot for eight seasons on the NBC series, will return for the ninth episode of this season, Season 28. The airdate has yet to be revealed as has the reason for Cabot’s return, the Hollywood Reporter announced.

The last time March appeared on SVU was in Season 19’s 19th episode titled “Sunk Cost Fallacy,” making it eight years since her last appearance. In that episode, she came into contact with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) in Cabot’s new job aiding abuse victims to escape their abusers.
March began her run as assistant district attorney Cabot in 2000 and played the role for three seasons. She exited the series early in Season 5 after her character was seemingly murdered, but later it was revealed that she was in WITSEC after attempting to convict a ruthless gang member for rape.
She then reprised her role in Seasons 6, 10, 11 and 13.
In addition to Hargitay, SVU also stars Ice-T as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, Peter Scanavino as Assistant District Attorney Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr., Kelli Giddish as Sergeant Amanda Rollins, Kevin Kane as Detective Terry Bruno, Aimé Donna Kelly as Captain Renee Curry, and Corey Cott as Detective Jake Griffin.
March’s current acting credits include Harlan Coben’s Shelter for Prime Video, The CW’s Naomi and the feature film Origin.
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
