Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday , October 26, 2025, inaugurated the “Kemet for Integrated Industries” ethanol production plant in the Sokhna Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, emphasizing the government’s focus on value-added, technology-driven industries and private sector investment.
Madbouly, accompanied during the opening ceremony by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir, Public Enterprises Minister Mohamed Shimi, and SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal al-Din, said such projects reduce import costs and create jobs for young people.Plant chairman Romani Nabil Emmanuel said the $4 million facility, built on 1,575 square meters within the Oriental Industrial Projects (OIP) industrial city, produces high-purity ethanol at concentrations of 100 percent, 96 percent, and 70 percent, as well as industrial alcohol at 95 percent.
The plant’s annual output is around two million liters, employing 30 direct and 15 indirect workers
.Emmanuel added that the project uses locally sourced sugarcane and beet molasses and helps meet domestic demand for high-grade ethanol used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and laboratory supplies.SCZone head Walid Gamal El-Din said the factory strengthens local manufacturing and reflects investor confidence in the zone’s advanced infrastructure and investor-friendly environment.
