Vanderbilt has a very big game on top for Week 9, with No. 15 Mizzou coming to Nashville to face the 10th-ranked Commodores in a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.
It’s a matchup of 6-1 SEC teams with very big dreams in 2025, and ESPN’s College GameDay is coming to Vanderbilt for the grand occasion. It’ll be one of the biggest home games in Vanderbilt football history, because these are uncharted times in the annals of Commodore football.
When College GameDay is coming to Vandy for the leadup to a football game, you know these are heady times for Clark Lea‘s program. Lea, his players and the entire Vanderbilt football community clearly have their eyes on the prize in 2025 and will be laser focused on Saturday, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t aware of other things surrounding the whole buildup to the ballgame.
One of those things has to do with 1 of those College GameDay guys who’ll be descending upon Nashville. His name is Kirk Herbstreit, he’s been a college football analyst for ESPN for forever, and when Herbstreit comes to your town, generally so do his dogs. They mean the world to Herbstreit, and with this in mind, Vanderbilt took drastic steps by setting up custom-made lockers for Herbstreit’s dogs.
The program wanted Herbstreit to feel as comfortable as possible during his weekend stay, and so those lockers contain all that Herbstreit will need and all his dogs will need, too. Herbstreit was endlessly thankful for the kind gesture, too, posting this thank you note on his social media account on Friday:
