Alabama picked up another massive road win this past Saturday against Missouri, but they didn’t leave Columbia unscathed, as senior running back Jam Miller and freshman wide receiver Derek Meadows were both knocked out of the game with concussions.
Now with No. 11 Tennessee coming to town for a pivotal Week 8 matchup, the Tide are hoping that neither will be forced to sit out, especially Miller, given how crucial he is to the Alabama run game.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer gave an update on the current status of both players on Wednesday afternoon after practice, and said that Miller will likely be listed as questionable heading into the game.
“I think Jam’s in probably what we’d put in a questionable state for the weekend as far as the report tonight,” DeBoer said, per Tide247’s Mike Rodak. “That’s kind of where I see it right now.”
DeBoer also went on to say that Meadows will most likely be out for the game due to the lingering effects of his concussion, which is certainly a blow, but not nearly as big a blow as Miller being ruled out would be.
Miller being on the field changes the entire complexion of the Alabama offense. He leads the team with 267 rushing yards and a score in just 3 appearances this season. Kevin Riley is the only other Alabama running back with more than 100 yards on the season.
The Tide will release their official availability report for Saturday’s game on Wednesday night.
