Man, I would like to see some games in which the Bears didn’t have to throw everything and the kitchen sink at their opponent. Penalties hurt, and missed opportunities hurt more. Still, the Chicago Bears found a way, and they’re—believe it or not—riding a three-game winning streak and above .500 on the season.
Offense
QB Caleb Williams | B-
17-of-29, 252, a touchdown through the air and on the ground, and no turnovers to go along with a 98.6 passer rating. Oh, and another clutch fourth-quarter drive to set up a game-winning field goal.

It was, without a doubt, his best game in a Bears jersey. There were noticeably more running lanes tonight, and to Swift’s credit, he took advantage of them. Swift was legitimately a threat in the rushing and passing game tonight, and that’s something we all knew he could be; the issue is the frequency with which we’ve been able to say that—nonetheless, a hat tip to No. 4 tonight.
WR DJ Moore | B-
Moore got off to a hot start tonight, but disappeared as the game progressed. In fairness, he was dealing with what appeared to be a lower back injury for much of the night.
WR Rome Odunze | C
Not Odunze’s best box score night, but there were a few balls that didn’t go his way, and one 50-50 (probably 25-75) that he made sure didn’t go against the Bears, so credit there.
WR Olamide Zaccheaus | D+
The same can be said for OZ as it was for Odunze. But Zacchaeus had a HUGE drop in the fourth quarter. An unacceptable one, really.
WR Luther Burden III | B
Burden has been pretty damn good when he was involved in the game plan, and tonight was no different.
TE Cole Kmet | D
When it comes to Kmet and Loveland, that’s probably my one gripe with Ben Johnson thus far. They’ve consistently not been much of a factor in the game plan this season.
TE Colston Loveland | D
See above.
Offensive Line | C+
Good. Not great. Benedet had a costly penalty, but didn’t do anything egregiously wrong in his first start on the left side tonight.
Defense
Defensive Line | C+
This feels like one of the better games for the defensive line this season. This is really a tape spot, but the real-time watch felt better than usual.
Linebackers | C+
Same. T.J. Edwards’s return was also a nice addition for the defense.
Secondary | C-
They had a takeaway. They also got gouged for big plays. It was a mixed bag, and they’re definitely still short-handed, but I feel like there were too many big plays to go higher than a C- here.
Special Teams
K Jake Moody | B-
Save for the low trajectory blocked kick, it wasn’t a bad night for a guy called up from the practice squad this afternoon. Here’s the game-winner:

The punt at the half was as good as it gets in the situation.
Bears Coaching
Ben Johnson | C+
I can’t lie, the game plan felt like it left something to be desired tonight, especially when playing from behind.
Dennis Allen | C+
For as good as Washington’s rushing attack has been and as bad as Chicago’s run defense has been, I feel Dennis Allen did a decent—if not good—job of containing the Commanders’ glaring strength tonight.
