Pittsboro has the spotlight this week in local government, as the town board considers a major proposal that’s been in the works for several years: the Reeves Farm development, which would build 1,700 residences and a million square feet of retail and commercial space on 500 acres along Route 64 west of downtown. Also in local government this week: Orange County Commissioners will meet jointly with the county’s fire chiefs to debrief after Tropical Storm Chantal, and the Hillsborough town board will swear in a new police chief.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners meets at 7 p.m. Monday, October 13. Tops on the agenda is a presentation on Orange County’s land use plan: county officials are in the process of updating that plan through 2050, and town board members will consider how the latest draft could impact Hillsborough’s growth, traffic, and water & sewer capacity. In addition, the board will also swear in Jason Winn as Hillsborough’s new police chief. Click here for the full agenda.
