Two Belgian Records tumbled in Carmel, Indiana as Roos Vanotterdijk and Florine Gaspard each set new marks in their respective events during day 3 finals.

Vanotterdijk opened the session with a 3rd place finish in the women’s 100 butterfly, hacking over a second off of the Belgian National Record in the event to finish in a time of 55.64. The former record stood at a time of 56.76, posted by Vanotterdijk herself last October, marking an impressive drop for the fly specialist.

This marks the 3rd National Record for Vanotterdijk this weekend, going a perfect 3-for-3 in her events. On day 1, she reset her own record in the 100 IM, swimming a time of 57.44 to take about a half-second off of her previous mark of 57.92 from December 2024.  Then, she followed-up by resetting her own 50 butterfly record in both prelims and finals, swimming times of 26.09 and 25.44, respectively. Both of these times significantly under-cut her previous record of 26.51 from last year.  Vanotterdijk was one of the breakout stars this year and looks primed to continue that streak.

In the women’s 50 breaststroke,  Gaspard threw down a time of 29.58 en route to a runner-up performance, slicing .12 off of her own National Record of 29.70 in the process. For Gaspard, this marks her first time bettering her own mark since 2021. Earlier in the meet, she posted a 7th place finish in the 50 freestyle with a 24.18, knocking on the door of her own National Record in the event (23.99), while displaying impressive range.
