CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A Rochester man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for a shooting last December outside a Canandaigua bar that seriously injured a woman.
Leon McDaniel pleaded guilty last month to first-degree assault for the Dec. 28, 2024 shooting outside Bubby’s Tavern on Phoenix Street in Canandaigua, less than a block off South Main Street.
McDaniel also was sentenced to five years or post-release supervision.
“Although McDaniel stood in court and admitted firing multiple rounds from a handgun into a group of people, seriously injuring the victim in this case, nothing can restore what he took that night.” Ontario County Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford, wo prosecuted the case, stated. “The shot that ripped through the victim’s arm left her forever changed. She lost her independence because of the depraved actions of McDaniel.”
