The Who played what was billed as their final North American show on their farewell tour on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, Calif., but it turns out that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend weren’t quite done yet.
The Who were just one of the featured acts on a bill of rock legends that played a backyard charity concert in Pacific Palisades, Calif. on Friday, Oct. 3 for Teen Cancer America, which was founded by Daltrey and Townshend, and UCLA Health Center.

I played every song on that record on the radio many times. In fact when I came out of the coma and the second hospital and finally got back on the radio to do my first show I ended that show with the final song on ‘Dark Matter’ titled. ‘Setting Sun.’ It was so great to get to talk to Eddie last night about our mutual love of the Who. And he performed. THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT” with Pete and Roger. Then he performed with another one of my heroes. @johnfogerty doing ‘Fortunate Son.’ I can’t wait for the next record and group of songs he comes up with. One of my favorite singers, songwriters, and performers Ed is a national treasure. thank you for snapping this picture of us Eddie. You helped make an epic night unforgettable,” Pinfield wrote.
The celebrity attendees included NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper, who posed for a photo with Frampton and his son Julian, which Frampton shared on his Instagram account.
