Country Superstar Gets Unexpected Intruder in Her Hotel Room After Festival Performance

LeAnn Rimes had an uninvited guest visit her Airbnb over the weekend.

After performing at the Country Calling music festival in Ocean City, Md., on Friday, Oct. 3, Rimes had to deal with a visit from some local wildlife inside her rental home—but luckily, she handled it like a true country girl.

Rimes, 43, shared a video of the unexpected encounter to Instagram on Saturday, Oct. 4, giving her followers a glimpse of a giant bat that was flying around her Airbnb.

The "Blue" songstress was wearing her pajamas in the video as she squealed and hid in the bedroom while the bat flew around another room in the house. Another person staying with Rimes was recording the whole situation, showing the bat flying in circles in the room down the hall.

"He's aggressive," Rimes said about the animal, before saying "Hi bat," to the creature. It wasn't long before she got spooked by the bat again, jumping and squealing as she ran back into the bedroom.

"She thought she was so brave," the other voice said, while Rimes protested, "I am brave!"

"country called… and i answered ?" Rimes captioned her Instagram post, which also included several photos of her outfit at the festival on Friday and some snippets of her live performance.

"i hope y’all had as much fun as i did @countrycallingfest. i even got to take in some wildlife at my air bnb that evening LOL ?" the country songstress quipped.

"good job you good at that singing thing as you suck as a bat catcher ?" one of her fans wrote in the comments on the post. Someone else told Rimes she was "pretty chill about that bat. ?"

"Darlin, I hope you either made friends, or evicted it," another user wrote, while someone else chimed in to say, "And now time to get your rabies shots."

In the comments, more of Rimes' fans were still dying to know what happened to the bat, and how—or if—they got him out of the house.

"I need to know how the bat attack ended ?" one commenter wrote, eliciting a response from Rimes herself.

"thank god, the little guy left the building ?" the "How Do I Live" singer replied.

Aside from her run-in with the bat, Rimes couldn't have more positive things to share about her experience performing at Country Calling. In a follow-up Instagram post uploaded on Sunday, she called the festival "pure magic" while sharing some behind-the-scenes content from the show.

Rimes was only one of the notable names in country who performed at the Maryland festival over the weekend. Other country music stars who took the stage during the first two nights of performances include Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Brooks & Dunn, Wynonna Judd and The Band Perry, just to name a few.

The final night of Country Calling 2025 takes place on Sunday, Oct. 5, with performances from Luke Combs, Chase Matthew, Gabby Barrett and more.
