The program features new works by company choreographers Maria Basile and Nhan Ho, along with guest choreographers Hsiang-Hsiu Lin, Fred Mathews and Colin Connor.

    Cancer CAREPoint, a San Jose-based nonprofit that provides services and support to cancer patients and their families and caregivers, is hosting a Games Day at La Rinconada Country Club in Los Gatos on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 9:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.

    Attendees can play bridge, mahjongg and canasta. The day will include prizes, lunch and a raffle drawing. Proceeds from this event benefit Cancer CAREpoint’s programs.

    Registration ends Monday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. at secure.qgiv.com/for/cancercarepoint/event/2025gamesday.

    ROSE GARDEN>>Playful People Productions is opening its 15th  season with “Disney’s Moana JR.” Four casts of young performers ages 5-11 will play the characters from the hit movie Oct. 17-Nov. 1 at the Historic Hoover Theater, located at 1635 Park Ave. The show follows Moana on an epic journey of self-discovery far from her island; along the way she meets monsters and the legendary demigod Maui.

    Adapted for young performers, this musical includes songs by Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda with Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina, such as “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny” and “You’re Welcome.” The book was adapted by Susan Soon He Stanton, with music and orchestrations adapted and arranged by Ian Weinberger.
