During Urban's appearance on On-Air with Ryan Seacrest on July 22, the host gushed over Kidman, starting with the question, "Do people tell you your wife is in everything? Like everything. Nicole Kidman is in everything."
The Australian country singer let out a laugh before offering a brief response: "Yeah. She's almost as busy as you, but not quite."

Seacrest didn't let up, continuing to rave about Kidman, stating, "I don't know, bro. I think she's like... first of all she makes the greatest choices and I'm sure you guys talk about things beforehand."
He continued, "I was watching one of the series last night where she can get evil, diabolical in some of her roles as well," before asking, "But is that something with your life, her life and mapping it all out with production and touring... that's a job isn't it?"
"It's a job, yeah," Urban replied, nodding his head, without putting too much effort into the response.
Seacrest then emphasized, "I think that people know you take great pride in, even though you're busy making time to have time with each other, which is why you've been together what? 19, 20 years? Maybe more?"
At that point, Urban looked a bit somber as he nodded his head and said, "Mmm hmm, yeah."
Seacrest wrapped it up by calling them both "very nice people" before finally changing the subject to their years of working together on American Idol.
With renewed interest in this conversation, one viewer mentioned that Urban seemed "very uncomfortable with the Nicole discussion."
Another wrote, "Whoops. This didn't age so well, just two months later."
Urban and Kidman's separation news came seemingly out of nowhere just days ago, though it has been reported that the longtime couple actually split in early summer, making his chat with Seacrest even more uncomfortable.

It all went down during a game of Wall of Truth, as Burford asked about Urban for his reaction to seeing Kidman on-screen with younger men like Zac Efron in the 2024 film A Family Affair.
"I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question," Burford declared before asking, "Does Keith Urban hate us? Do we have beef with Keith Urban?"
