ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It is likely that this month of September will end as one of the driest on record. Right now, the Rochester Airport has measured only .30 inches of rain (only nine percent of normal). If Rochester does not receive any additional rain this month, which is likely, this will be the second driest September in recorded history. The only September, which is drier, is 1960 (.28 inches).
A high-pressure system will settle across the great lakes and northeast in the coming days. This will bring another extended period of dry weather for Western New York, and this will likely last into early October.
Tonight, look for the clouds to give way to clearing skies after midnight. The low temperature will be within a few degrees of 60. Sunday features more sunshine and it will continue to be unseasonally warm with the high temperature in the mid to upper 70s. If you are going to the Bills game, look for summer-like weather and temperatures in the 70s.
