For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Allie Joyce has committed to swim at the University of Kentucky, beginning in the fall of 2026. She hails from Nashville, Tennessee, where she swims for Excel Aquatics and competes for Ravenwood High School.

She publicized the announcement on social media, writing:

I am so blessed to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at The University of Kentucky! First I want to thank God for guiding me through this journey. I also want to thank my family, especially my parents, training partners, Excel Aquatics, and all of the UK coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. Can’t wait to be a part of the Big Blue Nation! GO CATS!

Joyce’s primary stroke is backstroke, but she is a strong butterflier as well. She has improved every season in her career thus far, dropping time in her main events at at least one key meet each season.

Her target meet of the 2024-25 high school season was the Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) State Championship in early February. She hit the wall sixth in both the 100 back (55.87) and 100 fly (55.64), with her time in the latter representing a new lifetime best. On the relays, she led off the runner-up 200 medley in 25.89 and kicked off the fifth-place 400 free relay with a personal best of 52.66.

Joyce wrapped up her season at the SwimStrong Dryland Championship in late March, where she produced best times in four out of her six individual events. Her standout performances came in the 200 back (1:57.97) and 200 fly (2:01.43), where she grabbed bronze in both events with new lifetime records. She took fifth in the 100 back with her first-ever sub-55 swim at 54.85, and nearly cracked five minutes in the 500 free for the first time with a performance of 5:00.75 for sixth place.

She also clocked 1:53.31 for 17th in the 200 free and 57.74 for 14th in the 100 fly to round out the meet.

The Kentucky women, led by head coach Bret Lundgaard, finished 11th out of 13 teams at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The conference meet offers ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ finals, and it took times of 52.92/1:58.30 in the butterfly events and 53.11/1:55.25 in the backstroke events to make the top 24 and score last season. On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, she would have ranked fifth in both fly events and seventh in both backstroke events.

Junior Maddie Hartley led the Wildcats in both fly events with times of 53.44 and 1:55.94, while sophomore Paige Taber (52.78) and junior Grace Frericks (1:52.99) topped the backstroke lists.

Joyce joins Quinn Schureck, Gabrielle Idle-Beavers, and Karrington Hansen in the Kentucky class of 2030.
