HBCU Football Classic (Saturday)
A game that brings together players, fans, alumni, and communities is returning to Rochester on Saturday.
The Central State Marauders will take on the Lane College Dragons on Saturday at the Rochester Community Sports Complex at 1 p.m. for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Football Classic.
Prior to the game on Saturday, there will be a tailgate party from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with food and music. After the game, there will be a “Battle of the Bands,” where the Invincible Marching Marauders of Central State University and the Quiet Storm of Lane College will perform.

Naples will be full of music, arts, and all kinds of grape products on Saturday and Sunday. The Naples Grape Festival returns to Main Street in the village. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Guests can taste wine, craft beer, and more at the Brahm Moore Beverage Garden. On Saturday, the annual Naples Greatest Grape Pie Contest returns. You can learn how to enter the contest here. There will also be a music tent showcasing local artists both days. You can see the lineup here.
Public parking is available at Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars off Lake Niagara Lane for $5 per car. The lot off Academy Street on the north side of Naples High School is reserved for handicapped parking. Vendor parking is at the Naples Elementary School on Academy Street.

It may not be baseball season anymore, but Innovative Field will be filled with furry friends as Lollypop Farm is hosting “Barktober Fest”.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Innovative Field will have live music, canine-themed contests, a family fun zone, games, raffles, and the community’s “largest pet-friendly walk,” which starts at 10 a.m. right on the field.
The festival is held to celebrate Lollypop’s supporters and bring awareness to various services and resources offered to the community. All the proceeds from the event will help support Lollypop’s services, operational expenses, programming, and community outreach. To learn more, visit Lollypop’s website here.
Barktober Fest (WHEC file photo)5K For Scholarships at MCC (Saturday)
The Monroe County Community Foundation’s annual 5K run and walk for scholarships is being held this Saturday. Proceeds from the event go towards scholarships to help students complete their education at MCC.
Since 2009, the event has raised $260,000 and has welcomed over 6,500 participants and donors. This year, their goal is to raise $20,000. People are able to create a team, join a team, or run/walk by themselves. The race starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Check-in and registration starts at 9 a.m. at parking lot G on the MCC campus.

In honor of Child Passenger Safety Week, some local groups are offering free car seat checks by certified technicians. Here are some of the seat check events happening on Saturday:

The Department of Environmental Conservation has announced Saturday is “Free Fishing Day” in New York State. People 16 and older will be able to fish for free without a fishing license.
This annual event also coincides with National Hunting and Fishing Day. The DEC says this is a great time for people to try out fishing for the first time, get back into it, or take a friend or family out with them. You can learn more in this story.

The Rochester Public Market will be full of Renaissance-themed gifts on Sunday. The final Flea Market Mashup of the season will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendors and performers will offer a mix of items and activities that celebrate Rochester’s rise, along with Renaissance cosplay. There will also be a DJ. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
After Sunday’s market, the Rochester Public Market will host the final Community Garage Sale and Super Flea on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
