Lethal Dak Prescott weapon handed bleak outlook as Micah Parsons makes ‘painful’ admission ahead of Cowboys return

The Dallas Cowboys were humbled by the Chicago Bears in Week 3, and to rub salt in the wound, Dak Prescott’s top weapon left the game with an ankle injury.

CeeDee Lamb went down in the first quarter of Sunday’s 31-14 loss, when a Chicago linebacker fell onto the back of his left leg and caused his ankle to twist.

The star wideout returned before halftime, but limped off the field in discomfort after running a route early in the second quarter.

He ended his day with no catches, and played just six snaps at Soldier Field.

Post-game, as Prescott and head coach Brian Schottenheimer broke down the defeat, in which the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback was benched in the fourth quarter, attention soon turned to Lamb’s status.

He is expected to miss at least the next two games as he recovers from the high ankle sprain, but the good news is that Dallas don’t plan to put him on injured reserve.

According to one NFL injury specialist, though, that return time-frame could change.

Doctor predicts how much time CeeDee Lamb could miss

Dr. Jesse Morse, a sports medicine physician, explained that the recovery time for an injury like Lamb’s can range from anywhere between one and six weeks, depending on the severity of the damage.

He also shared a bleak outlook for when the star wideout will be back to his ‘pre-injury’ form.

“CeeDee Lamb’s high-ankle might have a little medial (deltoid ligament) injury to it as well,” Morse posted on X, breaking down the injury.

“That may have ‘saved’ him and prevented him from having a grade 3 full thickness tear which would have been surgery (tightrope), and out 6-8 weeks.

“I think returning in three weeks is realistic, but two weeks is possible.

“(In my opinion) he won’t be 100% back to preinjury until the 2026 season.”

Having Lamb on the field, who Prescott has long relied on to keep the Cowboys an offensive force in recent years, is no doubt important.

But if he might not be fully recovered until 2026, the team is at serious risk of another underwhelming season.

Lamb will almost certainly miss more than Sunday’s Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers — which will see a very familiar face return to AT&T Stadium.

Micah Parsons makes ‘painful’ Dak Prescott prediction

Micah Parsons, who was traded away just last month, will be back in the building to face the Cowboys and their banged-up offense.

And he’ll be taking no prisoners.

“It’s going to be painful,” Parsons said, discussing the opportunity to sack Prescott.

“That’s my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is.

“He always told me if I ever faced him that it’ll be a great matchup, so I’m excited to see what Sunday brings itself.”

Parsons has also been reflecting on his exit, and will treat this weekend’s clash as he would any other game.

Parsons has admitted it will be bittersweet to sack Prescott on Sunday

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, meanwhile, has already confirmed there is no special tribute planned for the returning pass rusher.

“I accepted my fate weeks ago when the trade happened,” Parsons said.

“So, for me, it’s just all about playing another game and just doing what I do best, and that’s just be a disruptive football player.

“I think the media and the fans are trying to blow it up to be such a big thing. But I just look at it as just another game at AT&T.”
