5-Game Win Streak! Bulls 109, Sixers 102 – December 26, 2025

Dear NBA,

We just beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the clutch, we’re on a five-game winning streak, and right now we might be the hottest team in basketball.

Give us more games on national TV.

    Yours sincerely,The Chicago Bulls.

First Half: Start Strong, End Wrong

One thing to remember with the Chicago Bulls: don’t have a heart attack over how they start a game. They usually need a minute to figure things out. Philadelphia jumped out to a 15–5 lead, forcing turnovers and rushed shots. But once Billy Donovan brought in what might be the best bench in the NBA to surround Giddey, the Bulls snapped back with an instant 9–0 run.

Josh Giddey settled into the bright lights of a nationally televised game and showed the NBA on Prime exactly why people are starting to make an All-Star case for him. In just seven minutes, he dished out five assists. Zach Collins was cooking early, always in the right spot, doing the right thing at the right time. Chicago clawed out of the hole and even grabbed a small lead, but their lack of effort on the glass let Philly hang around. The 76ers piled up eight offensive rebounds, and despite a cold stretch, they finished the first quarter down only two.

The Bulls carried that momentum into the second quarter. The United Center was alive and loud as Chicago opened the period on an 11–2 run. The City of Brotherly Love was feeling anything but love — they hated the defensive pressure the Bulls were throwing at them. Matas Buzelis swatted three shots back to where they came from in under three minutes.

But Philly’s two big stars weren’t going down quietly. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid powered a 16–4 run that sucked the life out of Chicago’s offense and gave the Sixers the lead. The Bulls went ice-cold, failing to make a shot in the final two minutes of the half, and headed to the locker room trailing 52–49. One lesson learned: when either team starts a quarter blazing hot, it doesn’t always end well.

Player of the half: Josh Giddey — 7 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal.

Second Half: A Full Bulls Team Effort

Don’t start hot. Don’t start hot. Don’t start hot!Oh — and then Philly opened the quarter on an 8–3 run.

Don’t let them get too hot. Don’t let them get too hot. Don’t let them get too hot.

Coby White has me genuinely puzzled right now. He’s starting to look less like a Bull and more like a deer in headlights. The team felt worse with him on the floor, both in the box score and on my TV. The moment he was subbed out, and the bench mob checked in, the Bulls finally matched Philly’s offense.

And when I say “matched,” I really mean “one-upped.” The Bulls bench poured in 47 points compared to Philly’s 11. Tre Jones, Jalen Smith, Collins, and Ayo Dosunmu deserve all the credit for keeping Chicago in it. Philadelphia won the quarter by just a point, and trust me, it could’ve been a whole lot worse. The 76ers headed into the fourth up 85–81, with 12 minutes to go.

With the bench dragging the Bulls back to a 96–96 tie with five minutes left, this was the moment Chicago needed to live up to the “Cardiac Bulls” name. This is where Josh Giddey and Coby White had to step up. Their numbers looked pretty, but the turnovers were tough to ignore, and on a night when the shots weren’t falling, the backcourt needed to find another way to matter.

And they did. Giddey sparked it first, a free throw, a layup, an offensive rebound, and then an assist to Jalen Smith, who dunked all over the former MVP. Suddenly, the momentum flipped. With 2:00 left, it was 102–101, Bulls down one.

Then it was Coby White’s turn. A step-back three over Embiid. A falling, off-balance assist to Tre Jones. You could feel the win forming. Jones grabbed big offensive rebounds, Vucevic locked in defensively, and everything started clicking like a game of Tetris. A 10–0 run later, the buzzer sounded: Chicago 109, Philadelphia 102.

The Bulls have now won five straight, and Chicago can look up and enjoy this one.

Chicago Bulls Player of the Night: Jalen Smith – 12 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive), 3 assists, 1 block, +24 plus/minus.

    Numbers to Remember:

The Bulls’ 109–102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers gave Chicago its second five-game winning streak of the season. They opened the year 5–0 — that was the first one. This current run is also the longest active winning streak in the Eastern Conference. With the win, Chicago moves to 15–15, back to .500 for the first time since November, and jumps ahead of the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 9 seed in the East. The Bulls did it again in the clutch. This was already their 20th clutch game of the season, and they’ve now won 12 of those.

    — K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) December 27, 2025 Nikola Vucevic scored only seven points, but he quietly made history. His 1-of-2 shooting from deep gave him the three-pointer he needed to pass Michael Jordan for sixth all-time in franchise threes. He now holds the record for the most threes by a center in Bulls history and ranks fourth all-time among centers in NBA history from beyond the arc.
