Yehor Maistruk from Summit, New Jersey has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at South Carolina beginning in fall 2027. Maistruk is a “Best of the Rest” ranked recruit for the boys high school class of 2027.
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina! I would love to thank God, my family, the Jersey Aquatics coaches, and my teammates for their unwavering support. I’d also like to thank my incredible teachers at Summit High School. Their dedication to my education has made a huge difference, and I’m so grateful for their support. I am incredibly excited to work with Coach Poppell and the entire coaching staff. I can’t wait to join my new teammates and see what the future holds for me! GO COCKS!!!!!”
Maistruk swims for Jersey Aquatic Center out of New Providence, NJ. He most recently competed at Summer Juniors, posting best times in all of his swims. He swam to a 28.68 in the 50 breast for 9th as well as a 1:03.94 for 21st in the 100 breast.
In March, Maistruk swam to numerous lifetime bests at Sectionals in Ithaca. He made the ‘A’ final in both breaststroke events, posting a 55.32 in the 100 and a best time 2:01.56 in the 200 for 4th. He also swam best times in the 200 IM with a 1:49.33 for 3rd and a 21.43 in the 50 free.
Maistruk’s Best SCY Times Are:
100 breast: 54.34 200 breast: 2:01.56 200 IM: 1:49.33The South Carolina men finished 11th out of 11 teams at the 2025 SEC Championships with 338 points. Missouri was 10th with 362.5 points. It took time of a 52.98 100 breast and a 1:56.19 200 breast to final at SECs. Linus Kahl led the team with a 5242 100 breast and a 1:54.40 200 breast.
The breaststroke events were some of South Carolina’s highest scoring events at SECs this past season. The team scored 18 points in the 100 breast and 10 points in the 100 breast with the 100 breast being the highest scoring individual swimming event. They scored zero points in four individual events.
Maistruk is the first publicly announced commitment for South Carolina’s class of 2031.
