Oktoberfest 2025: Communities gather for weekend festivals

Oktoberfest has become a way for communities to come together and celebrate in the fall.

Neighborhood festivals will be taking place throughout Southern California in the next few weeks.

    They have German themes, German food and German beer, but a wide variety of attractions. Many take place during the daytime in streets and parks.

    Most but not all are family affairs. Check the details before you go.

    Hermosa Beach Oktoberfest 

    Downtown Hermosa Beach at Parking Lot A & Pier Plaza, 11th Street; locale90254.com; noon-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

    Family-friendly event with German food, carnival rides and contests. Dogs are allowed but organizers recommend you leave them at home. Admission is $10 and beer tickets are $10 each. This is a card and Google/Apple Pay event.

    Los Angeles Beer Festival

    Los Angeles Center Studios, 450 S. Bixel St., Los Angeles; labeerfest.la; noon-8 p.m. Oct. 11.

    Organizers say the event will feature a Bavarian beer village with entertainment and more than 30 Bavarian beers. General admission is $55 and includes samples from more than 50 breweries. This is a 21-and-older event.

    Montrose Oktoberfest

    2200-2400 Honolulu Ave., Montrose; montrosechamberofcommerce.org; noon to 10 p.m. Oct. 4.

    There will be German food and beer, plus live music, dancing, carnival rides and games at this family event.

    Night Market Oktoberfest, Mission Viejo

    25282 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo; eventbrite.com; 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20.

    This is a family event with a kids’ play area as well as a beer garden. Admission is free. Reservations are available at Eventbrite.

    Redlands Oktoberfest

    Sylvan Park, 601 University St., Redlands; redlandsoktoberfest.com; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 4, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 5.

    Festivities include polka bands, activities such as Hammerschlagen, a kids village, Bavarian Market and food vendors General admission is $10 for adults, free for people 20 and younger.

    Simi Valley Oktoberfest

    Lemon Park, 3700 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley; simioktoberfest.com; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 4.

    This is an adults-only event with German beer and food, plus performances by Hammerstein Musik Baveria. This event is for people 21 and older. General admission is $25. There will be an after-party at the Junkyard Cafe, 2585 Cochran St., Simi Valley.
