(KRON) -- Police in Fremont are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Thursday afternoon following a fight. According to the Fremont Police Department, officers responded at 12:01 p.m. to the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle on a report of an altercation.
The reporting party told officers that two people were fighting on the street. Arriving at the scene, officers observed an unresponsive person on the ground who appeared to be suffering from "a significant stab wound," police said.
The victim died at the scene.
The other person involved, identified as 29-year-old Varon Suresh of Fremont, was arrested for murder, Fremont PD said. The Fremont PD Crimes Against Persons Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police said there was no immediate threat to the community and that additional details would be provided as they become available.
