Firefighters knocked down a blaze that damaged a house in National City Tuesday morning, leaving residents and pets displaced, authorities said.
National City police and fire crews were sent to the single-family home in the 800 block of East 4th Street just after 9:30 a.m. to find the residence fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke rising, OnScene.TV reported.
Two cats were rescued from the house and the American Red Cross was assisting the displaced occupants.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
