CHILI, N.Y. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say they arrested a 17-year-old boy after a car was stolen from a driveway in Chili.
Deputies say they responded to Sunnyside Lane in Chili Tuesday night for the report of a stolen car from a driveway. Minutes later, deputies say they saw the stolen car driving on I-490 east.
Deputies say they then conducted a traffic stop at Circle Street and Birch Crescent in the City of Rochester. They say during the stop, the people in the car were given multiple commands to get out of the car.
According to deputies, the people failed to do so and fled again in the car. A short time later, deputies say the car was found with nobody in it on North Union Street at Lewis Street in Rochester.
With help from the Rochester Police Department, deputies say a perimeter was established and a 17-year-old boy from Rochester was found and detained. According to deputies, he was the passenger in the car.
The boy was charged with petit larceny. He was issued an expedited appearance ticket and released to the custody of his mother.
The driver of the car remains at large, deputies say.
