Hong Kong native Kassy Yeung has verbally committed to join the Cal Golden Bears’ women’s program for the fall of 2026.
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and swimming career at the University of California, Berkeley. I want to thank all of my Coaches, family, teammates, friends and DGS for supporting me along the journey. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Dave and Coach Josh for giving me this opportunity. GO BEARS!!

Earlier this summer, Yeung raced all three butterfly events in Singapore at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. There, she finished 20th in the women’s 200 fly (2:13.46), 33rd in the 100 fly (1:00.31), and 38th in the 50 fly (27.22). More recently, she represented Hong Kong at the 2025 World Junior Championships in Otopeni, swimming faster in each one of her three individual races than in Singapore; she touched 9th in the 200 fly (2:12.16), 11th in the 100 fly (59.22), and 17th in the 50 fly (27.19).
One of her top performing meets came at last summer’s Hong Kong Open (LCM). She clocked 26.86 in the 50 fly, 58.89 in the 100 fly, and 2:10.63 in the 200 fly, all three of which took gold and still stand as her personal best times
She saw similar success at the Hong Kong Age Group Short Course Swimming Championships this past February. There she clocked another two all-time best performances in the 50 fly (26.86) and 100 fly (58.55). Her best ever swim in the short-course 200 fly came at the World Aquatics Championships in December, when she finished 13th overall in 2:08.77.

Based on Yeung’s best converted times, she would have qualified for the championship final in the 200 fly, finished in the top half of the consolation final in the 100 fly, and would’ve finished 52nd overall in the 100 back.
Yeung’s talent is more than visible in her butterfly. Her 200 fly conversion was just a few spots outside of the consolation final at the Women’s NCAAs from last season (24th, exactly one second outside of 16th), comfortably under the 1:55.92 to qualify for NCAAs. She would have been even closer in the 100 fly (22nd, .44 seconds outside of 16th).
By the time that Yeung makes her collegiate debut, there is a good chance that she could be in a position to make an NCAA final (or multiple) as a freshman for the Golden Bears, and could be a mainstay on future Cal relays.
Yeung has already represented Hong Kong at three different World Championships (two SC, one LC), bringing a veteran international resume into the Cal program as a freshman.
Cal’s 2026 recruiting class includes Isabele Wolk, Halle West, Kelsey Zhang, Ava De Anda, and Egle Salu.
