Chicago police were investigating after a 2-year-old boy died following an accidental shooting on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at approximately 1:36 p.m. along East 87th Street near South Prairie Avenue. According to police, the 2-year-old accidentally shot himself in the face. He was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he died, authorities said.
A person of interest was taken to a local police station.
An investigation was underway by detectives.
