The body found in a suburban forest preserve was identified as a missing mother of four who disappeared earlier this summer, authorities said.
DuPage County Coroner Judith Lukas revealed Monday human remains found in mid-August at the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve were identified as 46-year-old Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede through dental records. The cause and manner of death were pending as of Monday afternoon.
On Aug. 14, Naperville police were called to a trailhead at the forest preserve, near the intersection of 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, after a body was discovered in the prairie, police said in a previous news release.
Officers were led through high grass to a deceased person whose clothing matched what Abosede was wearing when she disappeared, according to authorities. However, the body’s identity wasn’t confirmed at that time.
Police had conducted a multiple weeks-long search for Abosede, who disappeared on July 30, when she left her family’s home along Sudbury Street for a walk. The mother of four did not take her cell phones or any belongings with her other than a white water bottle.
Abosede’s husband, Gbenga Abosede, who spoke at a news conference in early August pleading for the public to help bring her home, said his wife was a strong woman.
“My wife is more than just my partner,” he told reporters. “She is my best friend and college sweetheart.”
