Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
“Best of the Rest” recruit Ally Vernon has verbally committed to stay in state at Virginia Tech for the fall of 2026.
“I am so blessed to announce my commitment to Virginia Tech! Thank you so much to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for continually supporting me! A special thank you to the VT coaching staff for giving me this opportunity! Go Hokies!! ”
Vernon attends Cosby High School, a 6A school in Midlothian, Virginia. At the 2025 Class 6A State Championships, she won the girls 200 freestyle in 1:48.54, a new personal best time, and she finished 2nd in the 100 free at 49.98, also a personal best. She was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2024.
As a member of Quest Swimming, Vernon swam at the VSI Short Course Senior Championships in March of this year. There she swam new personal best times in the 50 free (23.18), 100 free (49.60), 200 free (1:46.96), 100 back (55.80), 100 fly (53.77), and 200 IM (2:01.66). She finished as the runner up in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 IM and she won the 100 freestyle.
In August, we ranked her as a “Best of the Rest” recruit in our class of 2026 rankings due to her freestyle and butterfly times.
Vernon’s Best Times SCY
100 free- 49.60 200 free- 1:46.96 200 IM- 2:01.66 100 fly- 53.77The Virginia Tech Hokies compete in the ACC, where they finished 9th at last season’s ACC Championships, coming in just over 50 points behind Pittsburgh.
Vernon will be a strong addition to the program, and she will likely swim on at least two relays as a freshman. Her lifetime best times would have been 4th on the team in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events, making her a potential relay athlete on the 4×100 and 4×200 freestyle relays. Her 100 fly and 200 IM would have been even higher on last year’s team at 2nd in both.
She sits outside of scoring position in all four events with her closest time coming in the 200 freestyle, where she was only four tenths over the 24th place time of 1:46.56. Her current best would have tied for 2nd alternate at 26th overall.
She will join Italian star Bianca Nannucci on campus in the fall of 2026.
