The grand reopening of Delta Park in east Greeley is set for 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 240 E. 24th St.
The public is welcome to celebrate and enjoy Greeley Recreation’s Play on the Way activities, Henna art, an ice cream truck and other family fun activities at the reopening.
Construction on the park began last August and was completed last month. The total investment in the park was $3 million. The new amenities include a playground and splash pad, improved accessibility features and walkways, more trees and public art by local artist Armando Silva.
“This project is about more than just a new playground,” said Diana Frick, Greeley’s director of culture, parks and recreation, in the release. “Delta Park is a powerful example of what’s possible when we listen to our community and invest in the places that bring people together.”
Earlier this year, the park was awarded the Columbine Award for design from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association. The award recognized the thoughtful design of the park and for involving the community in the planning process.
The reopening was originally scheduled for July but was delayed by heavy rainfall and supply chain delays.
