Less than one month after the Chicago Bulls revealed their 2025-26 regular season schedule, their G League affiliate has joined them.

The Windy City Bulls officially announced their 50-game slate on Tuesday afternoon. They will begin the G League’s 25th anniversary season with the 14-game Tip-Off Tournament. Windy City’s first two matchups will come against the Wisconsin Herd. Opening night will see the rivals come to Hoffman Estates on Nov. 8 before the Bulls head up north on Nov. 11.

After a winner of the tip-off tournament is crowned at the league’s Winter Showcase, the Bulls will begin the regular season on Dec. 27 with two straight against the Motor City Cruise in Detroit. Following that will be the team’s first extended home stretch of the season. They will play five contests at NOW Arena between Jan. 2 and Jan. 11. The Bulls will have one more five-game home stand between March 8 and March 16.

While many Bulls fans do not typically keep tabs on the G League affiliate’s schedule, this season should be a different story. The Windy City roster is expected to feature a handful of intriguing prospects, including the organization’s second-round draft pick.

Australian big man Lachlan Olbrich came off the board at No. 55 overall and signed one of the team’s three two-way contracts. While the deal gives Olbrich a chance to spend time with the big league roster, it signals that he will clock the majority of his minutes with Windy City. This is especially true when we consider the presence of three centers on the Bulls’ 15-man unit. Olbrich is very unlikely to carve out much NBA playing time as long as Nikola Vucevic, Zach Collins, and Jalen Smith are active. This is why some already believe that he could spend plenty of weeks suiting up in the G League as he gets a feel for NBA-level speed and physcality.

Indeed, if last season taught us anything, it’s that head coach Billy Donovan isn’t going to simply fork over playing time. Matas Buzelis looked extremely comfortable from the jump, but he averaged under 13 minutes per game over his first 44 contests. The Bulls did option him to the G League for one game, where he proceeded to dominate. Essengue is coming in even younger and even less polished. It’s hard to imagine Donovan will feel comfortable giving him real minutes from the jump, which could lead to several important stints with Windy City.

I would keep an extra close eye on those home games in November and December. If the Bulls decide to go this route, they will likely feed Essengue G League minutes early in the year in hopes that he can join the rotation later in the winter. Not only could this end up being a crucial part of his overall development, but it could be a great way for fans to get a closer look at the lottery pick sooner than later.
